본 연구는 인류의 지속 가능한 생존을 위한 아동 친화 도시를 과학기술 기반의 도시 연구를 통해 탐구한다. 심화하는 고령화와 감소하는 출산율을 극복하기 위해 다음 세대인 아동이 안전하고 쾌적한 환경에서 생활할 수 있는 도시공간을 제공하기 위한 과정을 탐색한다. 특히, 아동의 보행 환경 개선을 위해 도시 가로를 분석하는 시스템을 연구하고 아동 친화 도시를 위한 도시 가로의 설계 방향을 제안한다.

Prof. Youngchul Kim‘s team investigates how to improve and perform the concept of “child friendly cities” for sustainability in the Anthropocene. In order to overcome the aging and the decreasing birthrate in our society, this study focuses on developing urban space to accommodate children in safety and comfort. This study proposes geospatial and vision-based approaches to observe, analyze, and improve the design of public spaces for children in our urban areas.
