성한아는 카이스트 인류세연구센터 연구교수로 재직하고 있다. 과학기술학과 다종 연구의 접점에서 산업주의적이고 발전주의적인 인프라스트럭쳐 건설 프로젝트가 한국의 다종 관계를 재구성해 온 과정을 철새를 중심으로 연구한다. 최근에는 특히 한국의 주요 농업 형태 중 하나인 벼농사의 확장과 변형이 한국 서남해안 경관을 어떻게 재형성해왔는지 관심이 있다. 구체적으로 1980년대부터 2000년대 사이에 집중된 간척논 조성이 어떤 예상치 못한 다종 관계의 출현으로 이어졌는지 추적하고 있다.

Hanah Sung is a Research Fellow at the Center for Anthropocene Studies at KAIST. Her research lies at the intersection of STS and multispecies studies, examining how industrial and developmentalist infrastructure projects reconfigure multispecies relations in South Korea, with a particular focus on migratory birds. Her current work focuses on the expansion and transformation of rice agriculture, which has profoundly reshaped the country’s southwestern coastal landscapes. In particular, she traces how rice plantations created through coastal reclamation projects, concentrated from the 1980s to the early 2000s, generated unexpected forms of multispecies relations.
